Kitchen floor design is often selected for appearance only. While this is a great way to get a beautiful kitchen floor, it may not be the best way to get one that you and your family will get the most out of. Be sure to take a good, hard look at how the members of the home use the kitchen floor before selecting your floor.
Does your family spill a lot? Better stay away from those real hardwood floors and go with a laminate. There will be plenty of time for the expensive stuff when the kids are grown and gone from home. Does your family do a lot of activities in the kitchen besides cooking and eating? If your family uses the kitchen for a craft room, home work study room and sometimes like a recreational room, get a floor that is durable. There are plenty of options for durable, long lasting kitchen flooring that will stay looking nice even after a little abuse.
Kitchen floor design can also include carpeting. Most people do not automatically think of carpeting as a good option for the kitchen, but there are some carpets that will work well in the right kitchen. This is not a good option for people with young children and pets, however. Choose low nap carpeting that is durable and have it treated for stain resistance upon installation. Clean it regularly with a spot cleaner and vacuum at least once or twice per week.
