If you're thinking of going into the floral business for yourself, there's never been a better time. Getting floral supplies is easier than ever. You don't have to hunt for a wholesaler of floral supplies that only sells to the big guys. You can start out small, from your home even, and get all the floral supplies you need to get up and running.

What sorts of supplies would you need to start a business? Basically everything but the flowers is considered floral supplies. The flowers will need to come from a flower market or wholesaler so you can get the best price. But your supplies can be found online easily.

You'll need containers to hold your flowers. If you are making arrangements for customers who are extremely choosy, you'll want to have a good number of vase options available. Many clients are fine with a plain glass vase, but others may ask for an ornate urn or a vintage box. Have different containers as part of your supplies.

You'll need floral foam. This is called Oasis and can be purchased online. This is the green material that you will cut to fit inside a vase. When you place water in the vase, it expands and gets soft. You can then stick the stems of the flowers in it and they will stand exactly where you put them.

You'll need shears to cut the flower stems as well as thorn removers to take away any thorns that may have been left on roses.

A good supply of Spanish moss is a must. This is dried moss that will help fill arrangements and make them look lush. You can use it in any container to make it appear more natural and rustic.

It's a good idea to get a supply or balloons and cards as well. People who order flowers are ordering them for a special occasion, so they will want to include a card and often a balloon. You'll want a few boxes of card holders as well. These are the plastic pronged sticks that hold a card in a flower arrangement.

Have plenty of pretty silk ribbon in your supply stash. Get ribbon that will coordinate with all colors of flowers and specialty ribbons you can use for holiday arrangements.

Don't forget that you'll need floral tape. Green is your best bet. This is used to hold flower stems together and to make an arrangement more sturdy.
